163. Allagash Dubbel

I shipped an Allagash Dubbel and Tripel out to Wisconsin as part of a beer trade this week and decided it was time to review them. I bought the 12 oz version but may go back and by the 750 ml bottle as I like Allagash's bottles. The aroma is all fruit and the taste has plenty of malt flavors. Quite sweet and a slight alcohol warmth but overall well balanced and easy to drink. Overall not a bad choice but it is not as good as White or the Curieux I had while visiting the brewery last week.
Pros: Color, aroma
Cons:
Alcohol Content: 7% ABV
Calories: ???
IBU (Bitterness): ??

Rating: ★★
★☆☆
Brewers Website: Allagash
Brewers Description: Allagash Dubbel boasts a deep red color and a complex malty taste. The finish is dry with subtle hints of chocolate and nuts. The yeast asserts itself by lending a classic Belgian fruitiness.
